MS Dhoni Joins Indian Army

Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni who is also a Lieutenant colonel (Honorary) in the Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment has now started of training with the jawans on the border. Soon he will be seen stationed in the Kashmir Valley as part of Victor Force, from July 31 to August 15, 2019. Dhoni has taken a 2 months off from cricket to serve his unit on the border. He will be taking charge of patrolling duties, along with guard and post duty. He will also be staying along with the troops and will be undergoing training like the other jawans of the force.

  • Dhoni becomes the 2nd most capped ODI player for India after Sachin Tendulkar.
  • Dhoni is the third captain to win 100 games.
  • Dhoni scored 183 runs against Sri Lanka in 2005, this being the highest score secured by a wicket-keeper.
  • Dhoni has highest batting average of 50.96 among the wicket-keepers.
  • Dhoni, in 2017, became the first Indian to hit 200 sixes in ODIs, his overall ranking is fifth.
  • Dhoni, as a captain and also as a wicket-keeper, holds the record for playing 199 matches, which is most number of matches in ODI history.
  • Dhoni in the recently conducted India-Australia bilateral series has been named as the player of the series. With this he has become the oldest Indian player to have won the ODI player of the series award. 
  • Dhoni scored 3 consecutive 50's in all the three matches of the bilateral series against Australia.

  • Played the most T20I innings before scoring a fifty, was around 66.
  • Dhoni is the first player to score 1000 runs in T20Is.

  • He won 41 T20I matches as captain, which is the highest so far.

  • Dhoni received The Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honour, in 2009.
